Aisin Toyota GHP Swings in to New Kings Road
Talisman is a high class antiques emporium based in the heart of Fulham with showrooms spread over three floors. The building was previously occupied by a car dealership and once acquired by Talisman was completely gutted from top to bottom to reveal a blank canvas. A mansard roof has been added with an expansive ‘A’ frame glass roof section to provide natural light over the top level showroom adding somewhat to the heat gain.
The interior design and environment had to capture a certain ambiance in having that linger longer effect which is so important both to patron and proprietor alike.
A complete heating and cooling system was designed, based on two pipe conventional electric VRV/F systems. However, it was soon revealed that there was insufficient power to operate such a system.
There was an existing gas main serving the roof level, perfect for the GHP. The consultant had two choices with the Aisin Toyota GHP in that it comes in 2-pipe heatpump form or as a liquid chiller when fitted with the Yoshi water heat exchanger.
The Aisin Toyota group VRF 2- pipe system was selected for the application. Having a small footprint made it perfect with the restriction on available plant space. With Fulham having a high density urban population it was important that the Aisin Toyota GHP had a low operating noise level without the need for extra acoustic treatment.
The equipment had to be energy efficient. One of the main advantages of the GHP is the low running costs, as much as 30% less when compared with an electric heatpump
